What is Music?

Music is like a universal language of life. It is the sound that is brought together through the harmony of various instruments. Our life would have been empty and different without music. It is something that every human being enjoys it. When we talk about music, we’re talking about all the instruments like drums, piano, guitar, violin, etc, and how they get together to make a sound beautiful which is pleasing to our ears.

We all love to sing, love to dance, isn’t it? Won’t you think without music, life is a little boring? Yes, it is. It is something we all need to enjoy our days slightly more than we already do because music adds more color to our lives.

“Without music, life will be a mistake” a great line by Friedrich Nietzsche, a German Philosopher, who simplified the importance of music in one’s life so easily.

Importance & Magic of Music

Music is not only created by people but also exists in nature. Have you ever heard the sound of a waterfall or a flowing river? Whistle in the wind? The loud sound of the ocean waves? Yes, they’re all forms of music.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the greatest musicians has rightly said that “The music is not in the notes, but the silence between.”

Music has great qualities of healing a person emotionally and mentally. It is a form of meditation. While composing or listening to music one tends to forget all his worries, sorrows, and pains. It has the power to cure diseases such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc. The power of Music can be testified by the legends about Tansen of his bringing the rains by singing Raag Megh Malhar and lighting lamps by Raga Deepak. It also helps in improving concentration and is thus of great help to the students.

Final Words!

Finally, I must say that everything that has rhythm has music. Our breathing also has a rhythm. It can convey all sorts of emotions to people. Music is also a very powerful means to connect with God. We can conclude that Music is the purest form of worship of God and to connect with our soul. That’s the reason why music is known as the Universal language because it has no boundaries. It flows freely beyond the barriers of language, religion, country, etc. Anybody can enjoy music irrespective of his age.
